Lasting Protection where you need it most Engineers, architects, and contractors often specify metal roofs because they are durable, lightweight, and relatively easy and inexpensive to install. They have one major weakness. Leaks often develop along the seams of metal roofs due to rust, corrosion, deterioration of fasteners, poor joint design, or structural setting. Fortunately, you can compensate for these problems with Conklins Metal Roofing System. We use a unique combination of liquid-applied acrylic base coat, flexible polyester fabric or butyl tape, and white reflective topcoat to provide a durable, waterproof finish designed specifically to prevent leaks from ruining your roof-and a whole lot more.
The Metal Roofing System is easy to install and wont disrupt your business or work. Complete coverage in six easy steps! Heres how this innovative system works:
Step 1: Prepare the Surface Loose rust and scale are removed by wirebrushing, scraping, or sandblasting. All field-applied coatings must be removed. Galvanized metal surfaces are acid etched to remove oil, dirt and debris and are throughly rinsed with water, and allowed to dry completely. Rusty areas are primed. Step 2 & 3: Treat the Seams The base coat and Spunflex fabric reinforcement or Conklin 3" butyl tape are applied along all vertical panel joints. Step 4 & 5: Caulk and Apply Tape All end laps, screw heads, washers and openings are sealed with Kwik Kaulk, Conklins acrylic caulking compound. Spunflex II or Conklin 6" butyl tape is used on horizontal seams. Step 6: Apply Reflective Topcoat The white reflective topcoat is applied over fabric-reinforced joints and screws. A final white reflective topcoat is applied over the entire roof. Conklins Metal Roofing System will adhere to bare steel primed with Metal Ready, Conklins rust inhibiting metal primer, galvanized steel and aluminum metal decks. |
