Leaking Metal Roofs

PROTECT your BUSINESS and AGRICULTURAL BUILDINGS....from the enormous price of one small leak!

You’ve invested a great amount of time and money in your business, including valuable inventory and equipment. Yet it can all be destroyed with just one leaking roof. And roof leaks can damage more than just the contents of the buildings. They can weaken walls and ceilings, jeopardizing the entire structure. Leaky roofs can also ruin insulation, causing your heating and cooling costs to soar. The cost of just one leak can be enormous. Conklin’s Metal Roofing System protects your investment – and your profitability – by preventing leaks and extending the life of your roof. Now you can rest at ease knowing that leaky roof repair will no longer be a frequent problem.

"I’m in charge of roof maintenance for dozens of buildings, and we’re always looking for better ways to protect and seal our galvanized roofing. Five years ago we ran a test. We coated one half of a 200,000 square foot roof with the Conklin system. The other half got new corrugated sheet metal, sealed with a white silicone coating. A year later, the silicone roof has six leaks, and the Conklin roof has none. It looks like that Conklin coating is going to last a long time."

Lasting Protection where you need it most

Engineers, architects, and contractors often specify metal roofs because they are durable, lightweight, and relatively easy and inexpensive to install. They have one major weakness. Leaks often develop along the seams of metal roofs due to rust, corrosion, deterioration of fasteners, poor joint design, or structural setting. Fortunately, you can compensate for these problems with Conklin’s Metal Roofing System.

We use a unique combination of liquid-applied acrylic base coat, flexible polyester fabric or butyl tape, and white reflective topcoat to provide a durable, waterproof finish designed specifically to prevent leaks from ruining your roof-and a whole lot more.

"Our storage buildings are about 20 years old and were leaking at the seams. We had heard about Conklin’s Metal Roofing System from a business associate, so we called a distributor who came and did the job in about three weeks. Now the buildings look great. The material is tightly adhered to the roof and we haven’t seen a single leak."

The Metal Roofing System is easy to install and won’t disrupt your business or work. Complete coverage in six easy steps! Here’s how this innovative system works:

Step 1 STEP 1:
Power wash metal roof
Step 2 STEP 2:
Spray seams
Step 3 STEP 3:
Apply fabric to seams
Step 42 STEP 4:
Apply caulk to screw heads
Step 5 STEP 5:
Apply Butyl tape to horizontal seams
Step 6 STEP 6:
Apply final coat

Step 1: Prepare the Surface
Loose rust and scale are removed by wirebrushing, scraping, or sandblasting. All field-applied coatings must be removed. Galvanized metal surfaces are acid etched to remove oil, dirt and debris and are throughly rinsed with water, and allowed to dry completely. Rusty areas are primed.

Step 2 & 3: Treat the Seams
The base coat and Spunflex fabric reinforcement or Conklin 3" butyl tape are applied along all vertical panel joints.

Step 4 & 5: Caulk and Apply Tape
All end laps, screw heads, washers and openings are sealed with Kwik Kaulk, Conklin’s acrylic caulking compound. Spunflex II or Conklin 6" butyl tape is used on horizontal seams.

Step 6: Apply Reflective Topcoat
The white reflective topcoat is applied over fabric-reinforced joints and screws. A final white reflective topcoat is applied over the entire roof. Conklin’s Metal Roofing System will adhere to bare steel primed with Metal Ready, Conklin’s rust inhibiting metal primer, galvanized steel and aluminum metal decks.
